NEW RELEASE!

It was 2007. Los Angeles-based rock band The Southland had just finished a summer-long tour of the country, and they settled back into their hometown to begin the process of generating new material for a second album, starting with songs they'd already written out on the road, and getting their van painted after it had been tagged repeatedly in Philly.

Hearing the recording the boys had put down, their independent label said the songs were not “commercially viable” and recording was canceled. But when the van and trailer were sold, it was clear that the label simply couldn’t afford the studio time, and the band saw what was coming. It wasn’t long before the label crumbled from beneath them, out of resources.

Now the boys were all in a position they'd been in before – starting from scratch. But other gigs presented themselves, and everyone had to make a living, so after five years together, they went their separate ways and instead started new careers, started families, started to move on. Move past it.

16 years later, while cleaning out his home studio, Jed found the early demos for that second record. Here they are.
